Chemistry I and III,   Oct. 31st - Nov. 4th. activity up-date.

My dear 10th. Students:

Since I got sick last week we are delayed in our 2nd. Partial contents agenda. For this reason the topic for this week will be about Chp. 5 Electrons in atoms. As an introductory activity, at home, try to perform the inquiry activity described in your tx-bk pag. 126. Bring your observations and we'll answer together the think about section.

In addition I'm sharing a web site for you to visit and work with this week main topic. As you read the presentation material you'll be invited to participate writing answer for some questions and perform in some virtual activities linked to the presentation. Try to resolve this activity and all written activity please do it in your notebook. It will be graded as a homework.

Here is the Atomic Theory presentation site: http://www.powershow.com/view/3ae02c-MDI3M/Atomic_Theory_powerpoint_ppt_presentation

For our 2nd. class period next thursday Nov. 3rd.we'll be talking about: Physics and the Quantum Mechanics Model, and performing 2 Lab Practice:  No. 1  Now What do I do?  and No. 2, Atomic Emission Spectra.  Review your tx-bk pages 94 and 137 to check out the materials that you need for each lab and distribute them among each work group as always.

Especial note: for lab practice no.1 we need 2 L.0.05 coins, pre- and post- 2000 coined. Try to collect them from your mom drawer prior being requested respectfuly.

This will be all for this week. Enjoy your weekend.

Dear 11th grade students:

This tuesday Nov. 1st. we'll discuss the information you gather last thursday oct. 27 investigative activity, about Dalton's and Graham's laws of Gas Mixtures. Try to finish what was inconcluded so you can have all the grading for this activity. Then we'll be exploring

Ch. 15. Water and its properties, and homogeneous aqueous systems.

As an introductory activity, that you may perform at home: Observing Surface Tension, described in your tx-bk pag. 444 at the begining of ch. 15. I suggest to take some pictures during your performance and then, answer the think about questions, writing your report about it in your notebook. Remember to send the pictures about this practice to my smes mail. It will be graded as homework.

The following site will take you to a youtube video about Electrolytes  and Solution basics:
